CCLD - Children's Care, Learning and Development

Powys Training's CCLD Team. The aim of this apprenticeship is to ensure that you have the essential skills and knowledge to care for children. The childcare sector is a major employer within Wales, and therefore needs to ensure that workers in that sector are fully trained and qualified.

"Crossgates School … recognise the positive benefits ...we do not underestimate the value of what they [learners] bring to our school with their diverse range of skills and knowledge. They are ….well trained both in skills needed, knowledge attained and the behaviour patterns to become good role models to our children. As such they have become a valuable resource to us. The enthusiasm they have while pursuing their level 3 or level 2 qualification in Children’s Care, Learning and Development means our children have committed people working with them, enabling the children to have the best possible opportunities." - Susan Meeke, Headteacher, Crossgates C.P. School

Comments from learner, Jan Hadfield:
"I undertook an NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, throughout which I received continuous support and encouragement from my Assessor. This support led to a change of career, as I undertook a qualification to enable me to become an Assessor. When an opportunity to join Powys Training’s Children’s Care, Learning and Development Assessor Team became available I jumped at the chance.

Having been on the other side of the training I am aware of how daunting it can be at times, and of the sense of pride and achievement that is felt not only by the learners but also by the Assessors as learners build and grow in confidence and skills as they succeed in their qualification."
