Celebration of Partnerships and Awards at Ystradgynlais
Powys
Training and Careers Wales Powys celebrated the opening of Careers Wales
Powys offices at the Powys Training Centre in Ystradgynlais. The occasion,
also celebrated learners achievements over the past year and showed
the services on offer at the Centre and the range of training provision
available.
The event was well attended by members of the local community and was
also supported by Sadie Morton, Aprille Saunders, Operations Manager
for Powys Training. Leon Eatkin, Team Leader South for Careers Wales
and Thomas Addey Communities 1st Development Officer.
Aprille Saunders presented the awards to learners of all ages, including
two complete Foundation Modern Apprenticeships in Early Years Care.
She also gave a talk on the benefits of Lifelong Learning in the community
and its importance to the rural economy.
Sadie Morton presented the VEP of the Year Award to a young man who
since joining the scheme has achieved, four keyskills, New CLAIT and
CLAIT plus and Internet Technologies. He has now been accepted on the
Intermediate GNVQ Computer Course at Neath College in September
Susan Hulse, Centre Manager said that the concept of Lifelong Learning
had been demonstrated by the diversity of ages between the learners
that had attended the Ystradgynlais Centre in the last year. She also
stressed that it was Powys Training’s policy to promote “Learning
For All” regardless of peoples age or ability. This has been an
exceptional year for the Ystradgynlais Centre with nearly 400 certificates
achieved.
