Tina Hopes Training Will Be A Life Changing Experience
Tina, 34, who lives in Llandrindod Wells, has bravely overcome a series of traumatic events in her life, including major surgery that forced her to give up her job as a carer for elderly people. In a bid to get her life back on track, she has enrolled with Powys Training in Llandrindod Wells to learn how to use computers and has recently completed a 13-week Skillbuild programme for adults funded by post-16 education and training body ELWa. Having gained Keyskills and the New Clait qualifications, she now hopes to progress to another 13-week course leading to the European Computer Driving Licence, which will give her in depth knowledge of computers. She has also undergone motivational training to boost her self-esteem and confidence when applying for employment. The training also encourages trainees to change their lives by facing up to and leaving behind any previous problems. Douglas Cooper, a training officer with Powys Training in Llandrindod Wells, said Tina had overcome many traumatic events in her life and had now accepted with enthusiasm the challenge of gaining new qualifications. "She has taken on the challenge and is doing extremely well," he added. "We have seen her develop into a much more confident and bubbly person." Tina said she already possessed caring and catering skills but was keen to learn how to use a computer so that she could apply for office work. "Thanks to Powys Training I have learnt much more than I expected," she added. "My typing, spelling and communication skills have improved, I now have more self-esteem and confidence and I feel much brighter in myself.
